North Carolina Glass Center Hired Executive Director!

After an extensive search, the North Carolina Glass Center has hired its first Executive Director, Kari Rinn. Kari took the helm on July 11, 2016.

"We are excited that Kari Rinn has agreed to join us as Executive Director of the North Carolina Glass Center. She brings with her a wealth of expertise in setting up and running a large educational craft studio from her time as Director of Creative Arts at Haywood Community College. Her experience will be instrumental in seeing us through the design and construction phases of building the largest nonprofit public access glass studio in the southeast. As a talented artist herself, and an advocate for craft entrepreneurship, she will make a great addition to the local community of glass artists." - Kean Werner, Board Chair

Kari graduated from Virginia Commonwealth University with a degree in craft & materials studies focusing on glass and metal. She has served as the Director of Craft Entrepreneurship at Handmade in America, the Gallery Director at Pistachios Gallery in Chicago, and as a Professional Sales and Development Consultant to many artists.

Currently the North Carolina Glass Center is operating out of the former Asheville Glass Center space in the River Arts District. Ms. Rinn will hold an office there until the completion of the construction in the new facility.

The North Carolina Glass Center is dedicated to education, exploration, and collaboration in all forms of glass. NCGC is currently under construction of its new facilities located in the North of the River Arts District (NoRAD), but in the meantime will operate out of the Asheville Glass Center’s headquarters at 140C Roberts St in the River Arts District. The new facilities will open Spring of 2017.
